Can you make money from a blog?

There are two main ways that you can make money from a blog:

1. Let others advertise on your blog

2. Sell stuff on your blog (we recommend this!)

This blog post will cover how to make money by selling things on your blog. Because to make money by letting others advertise on your blog, for example, with Google Adsense, you must get a LOT of traffic (visitors) to make even a small income! And we know you don’t want to make puny commissions!

We’ll show you how to make money by selling other people’s products.

So, yes, you can make money with a blog - but the number one thing that you need is traffic. You won’t make money online with a blog if no one sees it, right? But we’ll get back to that a little later on – don’t worry.

Step One: Set up your blog

Of course, you must buy a domain name and purchase hosting. Then you must pick out a theme for your blog and set up the necessary plug-ins (tools that integrate with the blog) and configure the settings.

This step can take some time if you are new to blogging – but with persistence most people can accomplish this. When Tara and I were new to blogging, it took us a few weeks to get our blog completely up and running – because we wanted it to look just right, and there were those annoying technical difficulties that came up of course!

Step Two: You must promote to make money from a blog

After you decide what you want to sell, you must promote your content – your blog posts. There are many different ways to promote your blog:

1. Share away – share your content on social media sites! There are many social media sites out there, and many of them have groups of people that are into what you are offering. Of course, you have to be tactful with this and lead with value – not spammy links.

2. If you are not camera shy, you can put videos on YouTube that points to the content on your site. We’ve had a lot of success with this method…and it’s a free method! You can even do a PowerPoint type of presentation if you feel more comfortable with that.

3. Post articles on article directories – this is a way to drive traffic to your blog. You can post articles on various article directories and offer a reason (at the end of your article) for people to visit your site. This is very effective if done correctly.

These are three of the primary methods we have used to get traffic and leads for our online businesses.

Step 3: How to convert your leads to sales

After you have the visitors, you need to convert them into leads, and then sales. First, you need to have an enticing offer – you give away something of value in return for their name and email. And don’t let this discourage you, because many times, when you sell other people’s products, they will provide you with the valuable content (like a video).

Your video needs to offer value and make them want to click – buy now! Because this is ultimately how you will make your income with blogging from home. Eventually, you can come up with your own informational product to sell if you want, but at first, we recommend selling other people’s products.
